With increasing pressure from both land and sea, understanding coastal processes and adapting governance and management to present and future challenges is crucial. In coastal regions, typically a large number of users and functions come together. Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) has been developed over the past two decades to combine functions, users and decision levels in a sustainable way. However, with the acceleration of global change, the economic crisis and the demographic shift, a new and improved ICZM is needed to safeguard our coasts of tomorrow. During the Littoral 2012 conference, four themes that will shape the coasts of tomorrow will be addressed.
The conference is open to all professionals and stakeholders dealing with coastal issues and will give access to cutting edge science, real-life examples and a high-level debate, and will give you the opportunity to network with scientists, practitioners, policy advisors, administrators and industry from all over the world.
